This WordCamp is all about AI and the agentic web

Many of the talks and topics that will be discussed at the conference are related to the opportunity WordPress offers in this AI era. One of the talks on this topic will be given by me on Wednesday: “The Agentic Web Is Coming – Is WordPress Ready?”, in the Honing Your Skills track.

AI agents don’t browse the web the way people do. They read it and query it before they take any action on it, which changes what a website needs to offer to be usable by something other than a human with a browser. I’ll cover the requirements a site has to meet to work well for AI agents, and where WordPress already has pieces of that infrastructure in place: the WP AI Client, the MCP Adapter, and the Abilities API. WordPress runs 43% of the web, so how well that infrastructure works will shape a large chunk of how agents experience the web generally.

Come talk WordPress and AI at the Core AI Prompt Bar

For the first time, there will be a dedicated booth at WordCamp for all of us to get together, ask questions and learn from each other about how to make the most of AI in WordPress. Shilo and I will be there on Monday to help staff this new Core AI prompt bar. It’s a casual setup, not a support desk or a stage, and attendees can drop by and talk with the people building AI into WordPress Core, ask questions at any level, and share feedback on the tools already in progress.
