what’s the best marketing method for web
designers marketers and anyone in the
digital industry
if you answered YouTube you just want a
ticket to watch the rest of this video
if you forced me to choose just one
marketing medium to use it would
definitely be video from WordPress
tutorials to web design makeovers web
creators have the most potential to
expand their business and audience by
creating and releasing videos in this
masterclass we’re going to share all the
crucial tips and tricks for creating a
successful YouTube channel
so why rely on videos
well the entrance barrier is still high
with videos which means that there’s not
a lot of competition when compared let’s
say to written content now consider the
fact that YouTube is the second most
popular search engine
second only to Google that’s saying
something if we take elementals YouTube
channel as an example over the past
three years it has grown from zero to
well over 80,000 subscribers but before
I begin with all these tips we’ve
promised I must urge you to click on the
subscribe button so you’ll never have to
worry about missing one of our tutorials
that some 80,000 users have already
found helpful have you clicked the
subscribe button and the bell icon great
well that was tip number one you see
what I did there well it may not seem
like much but that was the first tip
always make sure to ask your viewers to
subscribe to your channel you’d be
amazed how many potential subscribers
are lost because of something as simple
as that
but you still need a video to present
the question is how do you decide what
videos to create freelancers working on
digital content trying to expand their
business don’t have a lot of time to
spare which is why tip number two is a
good solution document your
work take the most interesting or
creative projects that you’re working on
and document them you can turn them into
speed art videos tutorials or even case
studies in general how-to tutorials are
a great place to start
how-to videos constantly get the most
views especially if they deal with
digital content viewers what your
tutorials learn about your work and in
many cases eventually hire you to build
their site or give a lecture when it
comes to ideas for tutorials you could
explain how you solved a challenge or
answer a question raised by a colleague
or fellow user great resources for such
questions are Facebook groups like the
elements or Facebook community and of
course Reddit and Korra you could also
follow popular design and marketing
youtubers in similar fields and see what
videos are topping their channels here
are two videos that designers made using
Elementor that combined made over 8
million views
keyword research with wonderful tools
like ATF’s are another great way to come
up with ideas for video content and we
recently published an article about
eight drafts and you’re invited to check
it out to learn more about it some of
our users mentioned that they’re a bit
hesitant when it comes to performing in
front of a camera this is where tip
number three could really help write a
script it’s important to plan ahead and
nothing is more comforting than having a
complete and clear script ready before
you’ve even switched your camera on
there are some youtubers who improvise
an ad-lib
but I wouldn’t do that I wouldn’t
recommend that at all not for your first
script reduces the time that you’ll be
spending editing out all the bad takes
and mistakes that was awful let’s do
that again
scripts have particular formats but you
really don’t need them to create the
sort of videos that we’re talking about
we suggest using a
simple two column format in something
like Google Docs in the one column you
write what you’re going to say and in
the other you write what you’re going to
show now if you’re not comfortable about
being on camera then tip number four is
for you
narration we suggest appearing in small
segments or at least as an intro to the
video you can narrate over the rest of
the video while showing screenshots or
screen captures and nothing is wrong
with having entire videos of narration
and screenshots
there are plenty of successful examples
of those on YouTube if you’re like me
and you’re anything but camera shy how
are you doing
well then tip number five is for you if
you’ve got a face flaunt it putting a
face on a video is a proven way to
really rack up those views as well as
establish your recognizable face and
your brand try to put on a happy
energetic face even if you’ve had a
rough day at work and if language is an
issue don’t worry you can always add
captions to make it easier for viewers
to understand you even with an accent
what’s wrong with my accent tip number
six you need a hook to reel them in make
sure that you have a compelling hook to
really grab the attention of your
viewers within the first five seconds of
your video give them a reason to keep
watching for instance if you forced me
to choose just one marketing medium to
use it would definitely be video hmm now
where have I heard that before tip
number seven have fun
nothing is more inspiring than watching
someone truly enjoy what they do moving
on to more technical aspects of making
videos if you’re wondering how to make
your channel really stand above the rest
you want to pay attention to tip number
eight design you’ll want to create a
look and feel for your videos when
making a YouTube video
I wouldn’t skimp on the effort I put
into the following designer
the thumbnail try to be consistent with
regard to the design having a specific
caption or cat phrase that you can tag
on is also a good idea consider using
your face on the cover along with a
short but big enough title that can also
be read in the small thumbnail image
many video tutorials have nice
backgrounds and page designs even if
you’re explaining something very
technical
make sure the frame what’s inside it and
around it look nice you could use a
template like we did in the previous
video the video frame itself is another
thing to consider if you don’t have a
green-screen find a nice spot where you
can shoot maybe put up a poster in the
background or arrange some objects to
form an interesting composition now
let’s talk about gear we know that this
is a huge challenge for many of you and
a major obstacle preventing you from
making videos which is why we are huge
advocates for tip number 9 start small
you don’t have to spend thousands of
dollars on gear it’s better to begin
with less and build an amazing channel
using budget-priced gear there are a few
basic things that you’ll need a mic it’s
worth investing in a decent mic blue
yeti is a great option it should only
cost around a hundred bucks and it will
do the job well and for a good while if
you think you’ll need to do a lot of
editing and screen capture we recommend
trying Camtasia this is a simple editing
software and it is perfect for making
tutorials when it comes to choosing a
camera let me stop you there and remind
you to start small your smartphone can
provide great quality footage to begin
with as your audience expands that’s
when you’ll want to invest in a decent
camera as your channel evolves into
something great and when it does that’s
when you can start talking about tip
number 10 conversion or making your
YouTube channel work for you there are
many ways to monetize your channel you
can create a course a webinar or an
e-book and promote it on your channel
you can also promote other products and
make money through affiliate
Commission’s product placements and
reviews these are very refreshing by the
way to sum up we’ve covered everything
you’ll need and need to know in order to
start off your very own successful
YouTube channel if you’re a web designer
developer or marketer this could be a
great way to generate awareness even a
following and get new clients I hope to
see you again next week till then as
always we’d appreciate any comments
insight and criticism that you may have
and obviously any helpful tips that
could help other users are for all our
