At times you may need to take your website offline to make updates, fixes or modifications. Putting your site into maintenance mode presents visitors with a message notifying them of why your site is offline and prevents them from encountering broken links, corrupted data or other apparent bugs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With Elementor\u2019s Maintenance Mode, you can display a custom maintenance mode page to visitors, and notify search engines that your site is undergoing maintenance to avoid hurting your SEO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Create a maintenance mode template<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Create a maintenance mode page template set up the maintenance site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. From WP Admin navigate to Elementor>Editor<\/strong>.

  2. Click Create a Page<\/strong>.

    The page opens in an editable form with a header and footer.

  3. Click Cre<\/strong>

  4. Click the Page Settings icon.
    The Page Settings<\/strong> panel shows.

  5. From Page Layout<\/strong>, choose Elementor Canvas<\/strong>. The page displays as a plain canvas without a header and footer.

  6. Click the add template icon. The LIBRARY<\/strong> window shows.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  7. Search for \u2018coming soon\u2019. The search result displays \u2018coming soon\u2019 pages.

  8. For the desired design, click Insert<\/strong>.

    Setup maintenance site<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Follow these steps:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    1. From WP Admin, navigate to Elementor>Editor<\/strong>>Tools<\/strong>.

    2. Click the Maintenance Mode <\/strong>tab.<\/strong>

    3. Use the dropdown menu to set the following:

      • Choose Mode<\/strong>\n
          \n
        • Choose Coming Soon<\/strong> if your website is under construction and still not launched.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Choose Maintenance<\/strong> if your live website is taken down for update and maintenance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Who Can Access<\/strong> – Select the user role from the following:\n
            \n
          • Logged In<\/strong> – All the sites users who are logged in to WordPress using their credentials.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Custom <\/strong>– Allows admins to select which user roles will have access to the site under maintenance mode.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Choose Template<\/strong> – Choose the template that you created.

          • Click Save Changes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

            You will see a red button on your top WordPress bar with the text: Maintenance Mode ON<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            Maintenance mode response code<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

            While in maintenance mode, search engine crawlers know the website is in maintenance. The site sends the temporary maintenance response (HTTP 503). This way, search engines know that they needs to come back a short time later to check again if the site is already online. This ensures that the website SEO listing is not affected. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
