we’ll<br \/>take a closer look at the powerful<br \/>viewport settings for scrolling effect<br \/>I’ll show you exactly how they work and<br \/>give you some ideas on how to apply them<br \/>so you can create cool motion effects<br \/>like you see here let’s dive in and see<br \/>how it works it’s important to know that<br \/>motion effects can be applied to<br \/>background images in sections as well as<br \/>on individual elements like this custom<br \/>positioned image let’s use it to check<br \/>out how viewport settings work go to<br \/>advanced and under motion effects switch<br \/>scrolling effects to on I’ll start with<br \/>the horizontal scroll effect press the<br \/>pencil to enter its settings I’ll set<br \/>the direction to right because I want<br \/>the image to move to the right when<br \/>users scroll down the page the speed<br \/>slider allows us to control the speed at<br \/>which the image moves from left to right<br \/>I’ll set it to 5 as you can see it moved<br \/>a bit to the left I’ll show you why in a<br \/>bit now for the viewport settings they<br \/>allow us to determine when to begin the<br \/>movement based on the viewport height<br \/>which is the visible size of the device<br \/>screen 0% is the bottom of the viewport<br \/>meaning that if we set it to start at 0%<br \/>the motion effect will start the moment<br \/>the top of the image widget becomes<br \/>visible on the bottom of the viewport<br \/>the image will be at its original<br \/>position when the middle of the widgets<br \/>height reaches 50% of the viewport this<br \/>is also why the image started a bit on<br \/>the left outside the widget the motion<br \/>will stop when the bottom of the image<br \/>widget reaches the top of the viewport<br \/>cool now let’s set the viewport values<br \/>between 50 and 100 the image starts at<br \/>its original position let’s check it out<br \/>as you can see the movement only starts<br \/>after the middle of the widgets height<br \/>reaches half the viewport side it stops<br \/>when the bottom of the image widgets<br \/>reaches the top of the viewport cool now<br \/>let’s see how these settings work with<br \/>some other effects I’ll press the reset<br \/>button and check out the transparency<br \/>option we have for directions to<br \/>choose from I’ll start with fade in the<br \/>level slider ranges from 1 to 10 and<br \/>determines the amount of transparency<br \/>our image starts with setting it to 1<br \/>won’t add any transparency I’ll set it<br \/>to 10 so you can clearly see how it<br \/>works the viewport values are the same<br \/>as we saw before I’ll set the viewport<br \/>values between 0 and 100 let’s check it<br \/>out as you can see the transparency<br \/>effect starts the moment the top of the<br \/>image widget becomes visible on the<br \/>bottom of the viewport<br \/>it starts with very transparent because<br \/>I set it to 10 and it becomes less<br \/>transparent the closer it gets to the<br \/>top of the viewport the transparency<br \/>stops when the bottom of the image<br \/>widget reaches the top of the viewport<br \/>now it’s back to its normal self cool<br \/>now let’s check out the fade-out option<br \/>it does the exact opposite it starts<br \/>without any transparency and the more we<br \/>scroll the more it fades out now for<br \/>fade out in just like it sounds it will<br \/>make the image first fade out and then<br \/>fade in again I’ll go ahead and set the<br \/>viewport values between 40 and 60 let’s<br \/>check it out as you can see between zero<br \/>and 40% the image fades out and reaches<br \/>its max transparency in our case it’s 10<br \/>so it’s totally disappeared it will stay<br \/>this way between 40 and 60% and after 60<br \/>it starts fading in again and stops when<br \/>the bottom of the image widget reaches<br \/>the top of the viewport so it’s back to<br \/>its normal self again well that’s it now<br \/>you know how to use the powerful<br \/>viewport settings for scrolling effects<br \/>go ahead and play around with them so<br \/>you get the exact motion effect you’re<br \/>looking for it’s easy and really
