SEO skills and while the<br \/>Internet is probably saturated with tips<br \/>on things like keywords and headings a<br \/>great deal of them are long winded and<br \/>redundant we wanted to distill all those<br \/>great ideas to get the practical advice<br \/>most relevant to our subscribers those<br \/>of you who follow our magazine know that<br \/>we published about 6 articles every week<br \/>on design marketing and we needed to<br \/>streamline our SEO process for our<br \/>content to effectively reach our users<br \/>and relevant readers in this tutorial<br \/>we&#8217;re going to focus on one of the most<br \/>fundamental areas of SEO on-page SEO<br \/>search engine optimization which we all<br \/>know as the abbreviation SEO is the<br \/>process we use to optimize our digital<br \/>assets whether they be blog posts<br \/>landing pages or YouTube videos to help<br \/>them rank better on search engines<br \/>on-page SEO<br \/>refers to the technical steps that you<br \/>make to optimize your pages and posts so<br \/>they rank better for the keywords you<br \/>have chosen and just to be clear<br \/>keywords are not the only things that<br \/>affect SEO you may recall an earlier<br \/>video where we covered how visual<br \/>elements affect your blog content &#8211; so<br \/>let&#8217;s move ahead and run through your<br \/>checklist so that you can start SEO<br \/>optimizing your own websites in order to<br \/>show you the on-page SEO workflow that<br \/>we use we&#8217;ll be using an actual article<br \/>that we&#8217;ve published on our elements or<br \/>blog so by now we&#8217;ve finished writing<br \/>our new article and we&#8217;ve pasted it into<br \/>the layout we&#8217;ve built in Elementor<br \/>while we&#8217;re here we want to make sure<br \/>that we include the right social sharing<br \/>buttons which are important for on-page<br \/>SEO the obvious reason for that is that<br \/>it increases the likelihood of visitors<br \/>sharing your content for the generating<br \/>social media traffic which will improve<br \/>on our page SEO another reason is that<br \/>search engines use social signals as<br \/>ranking factors beyond that users seeing<br \/>your content shared on social media may<br \/>link it on their own sites adding<br \/>further to your traffic and ranking<br \/>elementals theme builder also lets you<br \/>create a single post template for your<br \/>social sharing buttons which you can<br \/>then always edit to change or add a<br \/>social share button all without worrying<br \/>about code or using additional plugins<br \/>that could add weight to your post and<br \/>slow it down which brings us to the next<br \/>part of our on-page SEO workflow<br \/>performance optimization performance and<br \/>page load speed are both crucial for<br \/>on-page SEO and if you&#8217;re using<br \/>Elementor you&#8217;re lucky because it&#8217;s<br \/>designed so that you don&#8217;t need plugins<br \/>for such things like forms and pop-ups<br \/>and this cuts down on a lot of the<br \/>superfluous weight that of<br \/>loading time remember less plugins<br \/>equals faster load time hosting has a<br \/>huge impact on your site speed as well<br \/>we recommend choosing a reliable host<br \/>like kin ster WP engine or SiteGround<br \/>according of course to your budget<br \/>another factor that will affect your<br \/>posts overall speed is your choice of<br \/>theme now we recommend using elementals<br \/>hello theme not just because it&#8217;s ours<br \/>you see there&#8217;s probably a reason that<br \/>it&#8217;s currently ranked third most popular<br \/>theme even though it was only released<br \/>just over a month ago it&#8217;s so<br \/>minimalistic it&#8217;s practically blank and<br \/>it allows you to lay anything on it<br \/>without adding conflicting or redundant<br \/>data and when using it with Elementor<br \/>you get the full advantages of the theme<br \/>builder which is an added bonus<br \/>speaking of speed and performance let&#8217;s<br \/>talk about images images should be as<br \/>lean as possible make sure they are less<br \/>than one megabyte by using tools like<br \/>tiny PNG optimal smush and Kraken to<br \/>shrink image size without losing quality<br \/>once I upload the image to tiny PNG you<br \/>can see it cut down the size to a<br \/>fraction of what it was now if you&#8217;ve<br \/>already seen our masterclass on how to<br \/>create an epic blog post you&#8217;ll know<br \/>that images can play a major part in the<br \/>layout well they also have a part to<br \/>play in on-page SEO as a rule of thumb<br \/>always give your images a relevant file<br \/>name alt tag and title and if possible a<br \/>caption now with our performance<br \/>optimized we can move on to the next<br \/>part of our on-page SEO workflow snippet<br \/>optimization we&#8217;re going to go back to<br \/>the wordpress dashboard where i&#8217;ve<br \/>already installed and activated the free<br \/>Yoast SEO plugin which we find very<br \/>useful to use it we&#8217;ve opened our post<br \/>in the regular WordPress editor in the<br \/>bottom half of the edit window we can<br \/>see the Yoast SEO plug-in and this here<br \/>is our snippet and now we&#8217;re going to<br \/>quickly review some of the basics that<br \/>haven&#8217;t really changed since<br \/>dawn of SEO over a decade ago to do so I<br \/>am in the content optimization tab of<br \/>the plugin I enter the snippet preview<br \/>and click Edit snippet the snippet is<br \/>the part that is shown in the search<br \/>results and it includes the title the<br \/>slug line and the meta description let&#8217;s<br \/>begin with optimizing our title now even<br \/>though it&#8217;s not the easiest thing to do<br \/>we recommend testing twenty-five<br \/>variations of your title before settling<br \/>on the one you&#8217;ll use this is known as<br \/>the upworthy method if we&#8217;re honest<br \/>there is no winning formula that can<br \/>guarantee anyone a perfect title but<br \/>what the upworthy method does is it<br \/>helps us to think outside the box<br \/>ranking hi is one thing but the real<br \/>skill is finding ways to stand out of<br \/>the crowd if everyone is using titles<br \/>like secret Instagram plugins or best<br \/>plug-in hacks you want something<br \/>different analyze current search results<br \/>think of a title that will really grab<br \/>your users and make them want to click<br \/>on your snippet first then try the<br \/>titles and see which of those gets the<br \/>best result I&#8217;ll paste my title here and<br \/>the green bar that I get indicates that<br \/>it&#8217;s the right length and it&#8217;s a good<br \/>title if I do say so myself moving on to<br \/>the slug that&#8217;s the additional text that<br \/>we add to the URL to help the search<br \/>engine as well as human users we<br \/>definitely think that you shouldn&#8217;t use<br \/>your full title which can be a bit long<br \/>like in this case just keep the slug<br \/>concise and coherent for example instead<br \/>of using our full title we&#8217;ll use best<br \/>Instagram plugins WordPress<br \/>now the Meta Description or the abstract<br \/>it should be captivating and a good way<br \/>to do that is to give the reader the<br \/>main takeaway of the article include a<br \/>clear call-to-action and keep it short<br \/>and sweet as you can see our Meta<br \/>Description<br \/>is also the right length so we&#8217;ll move<br \/>on now let&#8217;s get back to the elements or<br \/>editor as part of my SEO process before<br \/>I publish<br \/>I always revisit the content and layout<br \/>of the page and further fine-tune it and<br \/>get the quality as best as I can these<br \/>factors play a big role in terms of the<br \/>pages SEO if you want to read more about<br \/>the importance of layout and how to get<br \/>it right then please visit our earlier<br \/>masterclass which we did on using visual<br \/>elements in long-form content if you<br \/>haven&#8217;t seen it yet we encourage you to<br \/>check it out and hope you get the right<br \/>insight and inspiration that we try to<br \/>put into everything we do when it comes<br \/>to the content itself we suggest that<br \/>you use the Hemingway editor to get even<br \/>more suggestions for improving your<br \/>content it&#8217;s one of those things that<br \/>began as a novelty but it very quickly<br \/>proved to be useful when you want to<br \/>make sure that complex sentences don&#8217;t<br \/>get too convoluted as you can see here<br \/>we also suggest sending your article to<br \/>friends and colleagues and getting their<br \/>feedback and don&#8217;t forget that search<br \/>engines like content that uses synonyms<br \/>they also like latent semantic indexing<br \/>or LSI keywords these form a system that<br \/>search engines use to analyze the<br \/>various words people use when discussing<br \/>a certain topic we use tools like href<br \/>to figure out what questions we should<br \/>be asking and what LSI keywords to use<br \/>all this information is gathered on a<br \/>Google sheet which you can use to expand<br \/>the text of your current content we also<br \/>suggest reviewing your subheadings to<br \/>make sure that they have a logical and<br \/>coherent flow this way you can be sure<br \/>that visitors skimming your page will<br \/>understand what you wanted to say before<br \/>committing to reading the entire<br \/>page links both inbound and outbound<br \/>play an important role in SEO<br \/>specifically with on-page SEO they are<br \/>important to three areas<br \/>outbound linking we want to be sure that<br \/>the external links we are using are<br \/>connected to reliable trustworthy<br \/>sources you can see examples of this in<br \/>our previous masterclass article when we<br \/>created a link to Robert McKee&#8217;s website<br \/>second internal linking we need to make<br \/>sure that there are links in our new<br \/>content to our older related material<br \/>from our own site again this is easily<br \/>done in Elementor you just select the<br \/>text you want to link in the text editor<br \/>and it automatically suggests the<br \/>relevant content to link to and third we<br \/>want to create this same form of linking<br \/>but this time we want to make sure that<br \/>the other content in our site is linked<br \/>back to our new content like an internal<br \/>backlinking a quick way to find relevant<br \/>content on your site to link to your new<br \/>content is by running a quick search on<br \/>google while you&#8217;re in Elementor you&#8217;ll<br \/>want to make sure that your article is<br \/>tablet and mobile responsive and if<br \/>you&#8217;re asking yourselves what this has<br \/>to do with on-page SEO well it&#8217;s because<br \/>when your pages don&#8217;t look load or work<br \/>the way you intended them to it affects<br \/>the user experience which effects among<br \/>other things your ranking on search<br \/>engines again this is a subject that<br \/>deserves a full masterclass devoted to<br \/>it but luckily for you you won&#8217;t have to<br \/>wait long because our next Monday<br \/>masterclass will be dedicated to the<br \/>subject of mobile responsive &#8216;ti and<br \/>what to do to ensure it meanwhile a<br \/>simple way to test your post for a<br \/>mobile device is by using the responsive<br \/>mode in the elements or editor panel<br \/>finally we wanted to give you a bit of a<br \/>bonus with two extra pro tips to get<br \/>your on-page SEO to hop on up to the<br \/>next level<br \/>the first tip will help our posts become<br \/>a featured snippet<br \/>these are the snippets of results that<br \/>Google features at the top of their<br \/>result list because Google feels that<br \/>they will answer the users needs more<br \/>efficiently featured snippets also show<br \/>a much higher click-through rate or CTR<br \/>on xxx stats again 8 refs<br \/>is a great tool that can help you figure<br \/>out which of our articles have featured<br \/>snippets the best way to get your own<br \/>featured snippet is to keep your text<br \/>clear and concise especially in the<br \/>first part of your page or at least for<br \/>the first paragraph<br \/>think of your snippet as being the<br \/>answer to a question so it should be<br \/>short around 45 to 80 words including an<br \/>image next to this answer is another<br \/>good idea just be sure to follow the<br \/>same image guidelines we mentioned<br \/>earlier sometimes having a step-by-step<br \/>structure can also help you get featured<br \/>snippets on results for how-to questions<br \/>the second bonus pro tip is for Rich<br \/>Snippets these are regular Google search<br \/>results that are made richer when<br \/>displayed with additional info or data<br \/>that Google gets from structured data in<br \/>the pages HTML the kind of content that<br \/>usually generates Rich Snippets<br \/>include reviews recipes and events if<br \/>you want to know what kind of<br \/>information Google looks for to enrich<br \/>these snippets check out the<br \/>documentation on Google regarding Rich<br \/>Snippets<br \/>and structured markup Google does have<br \/>tools for testing structured markup and<br \/>Rich Snippets if you&#8217;re already using<br \/>Elementor you can use the star rating<br \/>widget which comes with built-in Rich<br \/>Snippets and Google structured markup<br \/>capability you can also combine a CF and<br \/>elemental steam builder to create<br \/>advanced pages that comply with
